EHCP Draft Checking Services

Receiving your draft Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is one of the most important stages of the EHCP process. This is your opportunity to ensure the document accurately reflects your child's needs, the provision they require, and the outcomes they are working towards before the plan is finalised.

I offer two levels of EHCP Draft Check, allowing you to choose the level of support that best suits your circumstances and budget.

Both services can be used whenever you receive a draft EHCP. This may be:

Your first draft EHCP following an EHC Needs Assessment.
A revised draft following your comments or an Annual Review.
A further amended draft issued by the Local Authority before the EHCP is finalised.

Both services involve a professional review of your draft EHCP alongside the professional evidence and can be completed at any stage where you have a draft plan to review.

The key difference is whether you would like me to identify the amendments for you, or complete the amendments on your behalf.

EHCP Draft Check – Brief Overview & Written Guidance (£150)

This service is ideal for parents who are confident making amendments themselves but would like professional guidance to ensure they are asking for the right changes.

I will review your draft EHCP, compare it with the professional reports you provide, and prepare written guidance highlighting:

Missing or inaccurate needs
Missing or inadequate provision
Areas where wording should be strengthened
Sections requiring amendment
References to relevant SEND legislation and guidance where appropriate

You will then use this guidance to prepare and submit your own comments to the Local Authority.

Best suited for families who would like professional advice but are happy to make the amendments themselves or request the Local Authority to make the required amendments.

EHCP Draft Check – Full & Thorough (£350)

This is my most comprehensive EHCP review service.

Following a detailed review of your draft EHCP and supporting professional reports, I will prepare a fully amended version of your draft EHCP, incorporating my recommended changes throughout the document.

Rather than simply identifying issues, I will draft the amendments on your behalf, helping to ensure your proposed changes are clear, evidence-based and ready for submission to the Local Authority.

This service includes:

A comprehensive review of the entire draft EHCP
Cross-referencing against supporting professional reports
Identification of omissions, inaccuracies and weak or non-specific wording
A fully amended version of your draft EHCP
References to relevant SEND legislation and guidance where appropriate

An added benefit of this service is that all amendments are completed using the SEND Tribunal Working Document key. If an appeal later becomes necessary, much of the work has already been completed, making it far easier to prepare the Tribunal Working Document.

Best suited for families who would like me to complete the amendments on their behalf and receive a fully amended draft EHCP with supporting cover letter ready for submission to the Local Authority.
